From the publisher:
When it comes to love, no one is in charge.
Isabel Chase is reeling. She’s just been offered her dream job as a staff writer on one of the hottest shows on television and quickly trades in the comfort of New England for sun, sand, and everything Hollywood. While stoked for what could be her big break, the show’s stunning executive producer has her head spinning and her feelings swirling.
Taylor Andrews is at the top of her career. Everything she touches turns to gold and the studios know it. Just when she’s on track for total television domination, Isabel Chase arrives in her office and slowly turns her world upside down. Isabel is intelligent, sarcastic, and dammit, downright beautiful. Unfortunately, she’s the one person that can take away all Taylor has worked for.
Will Isabel’s success lead to Taylor’s downfall? Or perhaps Isabel is all she needs…
My review:
Here’s to another great publication from Bold Strokes Books, one of my favorite queer book publishers. They had a very wide selection of lesbian fiction, but also have broken into GBT and YA novels. If you’re in the market for LGBT+ novels, take a good look at their line of books.
Anyone who is familiar with contemporary lesbian romance has heard of Melissa Brayden and for good reason. She has a knack for writing vivid and flawed characters who balance laughter and lust in a great way.
“Eyes Like Those” features a story of both friendship and romance as Isabel (Izzy) from cold Boston to a new apartment in California to start her career as a TV writer. The story follows the budding relationship between Izzy and Taylor, the executive producer of a popular TV show.
Taylor Andrews is one of the most successful women in the business. She is talented, savvy, and fatally attracted to the newest hire. Izzy is her opposite: quiet, Izzy and Taylor have to decide if balancing their careers and relationship is worth it.
Not only does “Eyes Like Those” unfold a gorgeous relationship between two queer co-workers, it also tackles the burgeoning friendship between the women who live in the Seven Shores apartment complex. This is another element that Brayden incorporates in many of her novels. She knows how to create a vivid and realistic cast of characters who all have their own agendas. The side characters in this story made it even more enjoyable. I love a book that can balance main characters with well fleshed-out friendships on the side and this book did so beautifully.
I absolutely love Brayden’s signature witty dialogue and engaging characters and I am already looking forward to her next book, Hearts Like Hers, due out Feb 13, 2018 (Amazon | Goodreads), just in time for Valentine’s day.

About the author:
Melissa Brayden is a multi-award winning romance author with eight novels published with Bold Strokes Books. She is currently hard at work on her ninth and embracing the full-time writer’s life in San Antonio, Texas.
Melissa is married and working really hard at remembering to do the dishes. For personal enjoyment, she spends time with her Jack Russell Terriers and checks out the NYC theater scene several times a year. She considers herself a reluctant patron of spin class, but would much rather be sipping wine and staring off into space. Coffee is her very best friend.
